The UW-Madison Biotechnology Center is currently open and following the university’s COVID-19 Response regarding campus operations.

The Gene Expression Center was established to provide cost-effective, cutting edge transcriptomic (bulk and single cell (10X Genomics)) and large scale genotyping/methylation services that are available to the University of Wisconsin campus as well as colleagues at public and private institutions.  We provide comprehensive, fee-for-service support for IlluminaPacBio and Oxford Nanopore from project design and sample preparation through sequencing and downstream analysis in collaboration with the UWBC DNA Sequencing Center and UWBC Bioinformatics Resource Core.  In addition, we provide RNA extraction and Illumina genotyping/methylation beadarray services.  Independent access is available to the following instrumentation for users previously trained by Center staff:  NanoDrop Spectrophotometer, Agilent Bioanalyzer and Qubit Fluorometer.  We are committed to providing the highest quality services possible while maintaining rapid turnaround at low cost.

The UW Gene Expression Center is located at 425 Henry Mall, Room 2330/2340, in the UW Biotechnology Center. You can contact us by e-mail at or by phone at 608-265-3029.

If you publish data generated via GEC services, please contact us at so we can list the publication on our website!
