GENE EXPRESSION CENTER

The UW-Madison Biotechnology Center is currently open and following the university’s COVID-19 Response regarding campus operations.

*PLEASE NOTE: THE GENE EXPRESSION CENTER WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY ON MONDAY, 5/30. WE WILL RESPOND TO ANY SERVICE INQUIRIES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE UPON RETURNING ON TUESDAY, 5/31. THANK YOU!*

The Gene Expression Center was established to provide cost-effective, cutting edge transcriptomic and large scale genotyping/methylation services that are available to the University of Wisconsin campus as well as colleagues at public and private institutions.  We provide comprehensive, fee-for-service support for bulk short read and long read (PacBio and Oxford Nanopore) and single cell (10X Genomics) RNA sequencing, from project design and sample preparation through sequencing and downstream analysis in collaboration with the UWBC DNA Sequencing Center and UWBC Bioinformatics Resource Core.  In addition, we provide RNA QC, RNA extraction and Illumina genotyping/methylation beadarray services.  Independent access usage of the NanoDrop Spectrophotometer, Agilent Bioanalyzer and Qubit Fluorometer is available for users previously trained by Center staff.  We are committed to providing the highest quality services possible while maintaining rapid turnaround at low cost.

We are pleased to continue the 10X Genomics Office Hours Program on Thursday, May 26, and Thursday, June 23, 9am – 12pm in UWBC room 1102. 10X Genomics Science and Technology Advisor Dr. Egon Ranghini and Sales Executive Eve-Marie Walter will be available both in person and virtually to discuss experimental design considerations for your upcoming 10X Genomics single cell or spatial transcriptomics projects. This program will tentatively rotate between locations in the Biotechnology Center and the UW Hospital complex in order to better serve UW researchers across campus.

The UW Gene Expression Center is located at 425 Henry Mall, Room 2330/2340, in the UW Biotechnology Center. You can contact us by e-mail at gecinfo@biotech.wisc.edu or by phone at 608-265-3029.

If you publish data generated via GEC services, please contact us at gecinfo@biotech.wisc.edu so we can list the publication on our website!
